YouSee Film & Tv - Bland Selv

What?

The “Bland Selv” feature allows the user to get away from fixed TV and streaming subscriptions and switch channels when the need arises. Maybe an upcoming sports event is your goal when you need other channel or a new series on HBO that you just need to watch.

Once you have mixed channels then it is binding for 30 days and if you have used all your points - then you can not mix until these are released again. There are several subscription types and the more expensive it is the more points you have to play with and the more channels you can have at the same time. TV channels can be mixed for fewer points than streaming services which require more points.

Summary

We wanted to give our users the opportunity to enjoy a modern product that gives them the freedom to adjust channels and streaming services without having to sign up for a new subscription. As an aggregator, the goal is to have the most broadcasters on the market in our library, so you can manage all your consumption in one place - for one bill. It's a beautiful vision but of course it's never easy to get everyone to sign off on a deal like that.

The hierarchy of the page

Basically, we are showing the entire library on this page with a selected dark state for the channels you have in the subscription.

At the top, we have the Streaming services. They have twice the size of cards as the TV channels. The reason for this is that they cost more points and are more prominent and contain a huge amount of content compared to the TV channels. It is important to be able to tell the difference between these two different "channels".

The TV channels are next, all for one point. Later on this was changed, so some channels would cost more than one point. And at the bottom, there are a number of channels that are obligatory and can not be used as trade for a new channel.

You can sort by popularity, genre or by alphabetical order. When you start selecting new channels for mixing you can choose to get a quick overview by hiding all the others. At this stage, you can browse around and select as many new channels as you want even though there are not sufficient points in your subscription. You will have to make the hard choice later when you go to the next step! 😵

Genres

When sorting by genres you get mixed sizes of cards - both TV channels and Streaming channels, and one channel can be present in several genres. That means the page can become quite long.
